An iconic campus shaped the past. A living architecture is now shaping what comes next.
The Future University in Egypt campus was originally conceived as a forward-looking model for education, where western academic heritage merged with openness, transparency, and postmodern architectural expression. Designed to stand the test of time, the campus established an environment that supported learning, dialogue, and growth.
Today, this vision evolves with the unveiling of the FUE BioHub Extension by Elgabaly Architects.
Conceived as an organic continuation of the campus rather than a contrast to it, the BioHub introduces a new architectural language shaped by digitalization and computational design. The project comprises the Faculty of Medicine, the Educational Hospital, and a renovated façade for the faculty of dentistry, unifying the old and new through a single evolving identity.

At the core of the design lies the cell, the most fundamental and intelligent unit of life. Drawing inspiration from cellular behavior, the architecture was developed through a fully computational and parametric process. Digital algorithms informed the shaping of volumes, the articulation of facades, and the calibration of openness, enabling the design to optimize environmental performance, spatial efficiency, and human experience.
This digital approach was instrumental in achieving long-term sustainability. Through computational analysis, the project responds intelligently to light, climate, and movement, creating balanced conditions for learning and healing. Shading, permeability, and form were carefully optimized to enhance comfort, reduce environmental impact, and support a healthy academic environment for future generations.
The facade acts as a dynamic interface rather than a static envelope. Its parametric composition reflects the logic of cellular mechanisms, shifting between transparency and solidity while connecting the existing campus with the new extension through transformation rather than contrast.

Designed as a living entity, the FUE BioHub reimagines the university as an adaptive environment that grows with its users. It is a campus shaped by intelligence, driven by digital tools, and prepared to serve as a future-ready platform for education for years to come.
